    Research Director – Behavioural Surveys

    Due to business growth, we are looking for a Research Director with expertise in leading project teams and taking surveys into field, to join our Behavioural and Communications Practice. This role will include writing and supervising the delivery of questionnaires for online experiments and implementation and process evaluations that accompany field trials, as part of our market-leading behavioural offer. You will ensure high quality is maintained at all project stages; and help develop and manage a talented and expanding team of researchers.

    The Behavioural and Communications Practice brings together varied expertise, including behavioural economics and cognitive and social psychology, qualitative and quantitative research methods, creative and design, advanced data analytics, communications consultancy and capability building. The team takes on a wide range of projects for clients across Government and the wider public sector, tackling issues from environmental behaviours to public health and misinformation to domestic abuse. We advise clients on the opportunities for behaviour change at all stages in the policy cycle; provide insight into what influences individual and organisational behaviours; design communications, interventions and strategies for driving change; and trial and evaluate campaigns and interventions.     Key Responsibilities

    • Leading and supporting project teams, acting as key contact for clients, overseeing surveys and questionnaires, being accountable for timings and budgets, maintaining quality in analysis and reporting
    • Participating in new business activities – leading proposals and pitches, developing new client relationships, planning and contributing to profile-raising activities
    • Contributing to team planning and strategy, and skills and capability development
    • Working with other experts to develop our offer by drawing on advanced knowledge and skills, creating new solutions, and training the team
    • Upskilling junior team members, supporting their learning and development around writing questionnaires and delivering surveys
    • Line managing one or more individuals, and supporting their work and development

    Your Profile

    • Proven expertise in questionnaire writing and taking surveys into field, including working with scripters and panels to deliver surveys
    • Interest in trials (both online experiments and implementation and process evaluations for field trials), and knowledge of behavioural models or willingness to learn
    • The ability to explain survey processes and outcomes to clients; you will enjoy advising clients and helping to solve their problems
    • Proven project oversight experience, with an ability to lead a research team to deliver excellent work to time and budget
    • Strong writing skills, including the ability to produce convincing proposals on tight timelines
    • Aptitude for innovative project design and the commercial skill to apply this to developing new opportunities for work
