    Role Background

    The Financial Times is a leading global business news publisher known for innovation in the media industry, particularly in digital business models and world-class journalism. Within this dynamic and customer-centric organization that operates in a fast-paced digital landscape, the data & analytics team plays a crucial role in driving the FT's success by influencing all aspects of our operations.

    In 2023, we introduced the Data Academy, a comprehensive program comprising 17 modules, including in-person training sessions and e-learning modules, aimed at enhancing data fluency across the organization. The success of this initiative has been remarkable, with high attendance numbers and exceptional feedback scores. In 2024, our focus is on establishing AI fluency to build on our existing data foundations during a pivotal time in the AI revolution.

    With our Data & Analytics L&D Programme Manager going on maternity leave, we are offering a unique opportunity for an L&D professional to leave their mark on the FT by advancing our Data Academy to incorporate AI content and new learning interventions focused on practical application. This role allows an ambitious L&D professional to significantly enhance the skills and data fluency of a prestigious organization.

    In this role you will:

    • Collaborate with the Data Value & Strategy team within the broader Data & Analytics department
    • Engage with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design balanced content and learning interventions that drive ROI and application of data fluency skills
    • Evolve the current Data Academy into a comprehensive Data & AI Academy through collaboration with internal teams and experts
    • Perform a thorough learning needs analysis to align with business objectives, such as boosting audience engagement
    • Utilize learning personas to develop the strategy, format, and content of the Data & AI Academy
    • Promote a 'digital first' approach to challenge conventional classroom-based training methods
    • Ask questions and lead with curiosity to ensure clarity for all stakeholders
    • Review existing learning materials and assess their relevance and appropriateness
    • Design and implement measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of current and new learning materials and approaches
    • Provide regular updates and adapt plans as needed
    • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure global training alignment while considering regional nuances

    Experience/skills you need to be successful in this role

    Essential

    • Strong leadership and coaching abilities
    • Proven track record in designing and executing successful online and face-to-face learning strategies
    • Extensive experience in delivering system and process-oriented learning programs
    • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations, particularly with subject-matter experts in Data/Analytics
    • In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles and their application in diverse training methods
    • Effective planning, multitasking, and time management skills
    • Experience working with global remote teams, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration abilities
    • Proficiency in writing and maintaining reports and training manuals

    Desirable

    • Background in the subscription or membership industry
    • Training qualification/certification
    • Experience with Agile environments and teams
    • Development of instructor manuals
    • Experience in eLearning development and gamification
    • Proficiency in Google Suite
    • Understanding of data principles
