    Description

    Global legal search firm, Major, Lindsey & Africa, has been retained by a leading, global investment management business to seek a Vice President and Corporate Counsel. The successful candidate will join the Fixed Income team that boasts hundreds of billions in assets under management; one of the largest fixed income managers in the world.

    This opportunity would suit an experienced corporate regulatory lawyer and would report to the Chief Legal Officer for Europe. The Vice President and Corporate Counsel will be tasked with providing advice regarding various UK and EU rules and regulations including on matters related to the FCA, MiFID, AIFMD, SMCR and UCITS. The successful candidate will also advise on various investment management agreements and other related agreements and provide legal support with respect to fixed income trading.

    Four to six years of professional experience is necessary.

    Familiarity with fixed income is not necessary as training will be provided

    Candidates must:

    • Have extensive legal experience in the areas of asset management, investment funds and securities transactions
    • Have extensive and sophisticated knowledge of UK and EU regulations applicable to asset managers
    • Have experience in a law firm and ideally previous in-house experience (including on secondment)
    • Have an excellent drafting ability and attention to detail
    • Have strong interpersonal skills
    • Be able to grasp complex problems quickly and provide pragmatic and commercial solutions
    • Have confidence dealing with all levels of management and colleagues in different functions and regions
