    Management of all Safety, Health and Environment responsibilities across the Smart DCC Ltd business to ensure that the DCC Board discharges its duties and complies with all Safety, Health & Environmental legislation.

    To assure the DCC Executive Committee and Board that at all times, best practice in the management of SHE threats to the business is in place and being followed.

    Devise and implement strategies, policies and processes to mitigate both legal and moral obligated risk to DCC, whilst supporting a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors and those who may be effected by DCC's actions.

    This assurance will include but not be limited to the control of all contractors/3rd parties, building project works, and any other reasonable request from the board as the recognised DCC SHE competent person.

    The role will be supported by a number of SHE Champions across the business and will be required to lease with the SHE team at our parent company Capita plc.

    Create and manage a business focused SHE plan to ensure DCC Ltd's policies, processes and arrangements are reviewed, updated and implemented across all DCC sites and operations.

    Oversight and monitoring of the operation of the DCC SHE management system, and consolidation of regular updates and reporting to DCC ExCo and Board.

    Input into procurement process and/or management of DCC suppliers with respect to SHE requirements and compliance.

    Coordination of a virtual team of SHE champions across the business to ensure SHE policies and practices and strategy are implemented.

    Develop and implement where required DCC Ltd's policy and procedures to ensure legal compliance within SHE.

    Act 1974 are understood and applied within DCC SHE policies and processes and shortfalls are reported to the Board.

    Be the significant drive behind change management system processes to ensure initiatives or changes are assessed in respect to their SHE implications with all parties consulted before implementation.

    Where required be the point of contact between DCC Ltd and Enforcement officers, local authorities or official public services.

    Ensure all levels of management within DCC fully understand the arrangements for the implementation of the health and safety policy and their expected commitment.

    Work closely with facilities contractors to ensure all areas of SHE is being adhered to.
    Provide guidance and assistance in the creation of DCC Ltd risk assessments and working procedures.

    Gap analysis of training needs, development, and implementation of training schedules when they fall short of DCC goals or legislative requirements.

    Support SHE champions in the promotion of Smart DCC Ltd's SHE plans.
    Ensure the same management standards are applied to health and safety as to other management functions within DCC.

    To manage scope and times of audits and inspections conducted in accordance with the DCC SHE monitoring procedures including contractors/3rd parties, ensuring both physical and theoretical areas of the business are compliant.

    Promote good governance, risk management and controls across the business.

    Identify risk and opportunities for improvements within the role, function and business that can deliver long-term positive returns for the business.

    Minimum 5 years experience in a senior HSE role in industry or a SHE Advisory role.
    Data collation, checking, analysis and reporting.
    Ability to manage across functions to effectively mitigate SHE Risk.
    Good report writing and presentation skills, and ability to communicate with impact with senior staff (Exco).
    Proficient in Excel (data analysis, pivot tables) and Word (report writing).
    Managing multiple projects in parallel and delivering to time.
    Strong organisation, stakeholder management and communication skills (written and spoken).
    Analytical – able to investigate, assess data to drive business insight.
    People management skills and experience.
    Appetite for working with complexity, yet maintaining a focus on producing simple, evidence-based analysis and solutions.
    Ability to work in virtual or adhoc team structures.
    Effective time management, comfortable working to tight deadlines.
    Excellent at building and managing working relationships.
