    Location: London

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Lead to spearhead our AI research initiatives. As the Head of Research at NetMind.AI, you will lead the design and development of advanced NLP and NLG models, including machine translation, question answering, dialogue systems, model interpretability, sentiment analysis, opinion mining, topic modelling, and multimodal learning. The ideal candidate will be a visionary in the field of artificial intelligence, with a proven track record of leading research projects from conception to implementation.You will be responsible for driving research projects, implementing cutting-edge NLP models into practical and scalable algorithms, and collaborating with the product team to develop advanced analytic solutions. You will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of our AI research, fostering a culture of innovation, and leading a team of talented researchers to break new ground in AI technology.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Research Leadership and Strategy Development:

    • Lead the research department, setting a clear vision and strategy that aligns with the company's overall objectives.
    • Develop and maintain a research roadmap that includes both exploratory research projects and development-focused initiatives aimed at integrating AI technologies into products.
    • Identify new and emerging AI technologies and methodologies that can create competitive advantages for the company.
    • Lead and Implement cutting-edge NLP models from research in practical and scalable algorithms.

    Team Management and Development:

    • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of researchers and engineers, fostering an environment of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members, helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.
    • Recruit top-tier talent to expand the team, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace.

    Research and Innovation:

    • Oversee the development of novel AI models and algorithms, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and can be effectively integrated into products.
    • Drive the exploration of new problem domains within AI, encouraging the team to develop innovative approaches and solutions.
    • Lead by example in hands-on research, contributing to critical projects and guiding the team in overcoming technical challenges.

    Collaboration and Partnership:

    • Foster strong relationships with academic institutions, research labs, and other organizations to collaborate on joint research initiatives and share knowledge.
    • Engage with internal teams, such as product development and marketing, to ensure the research team's work aligns with product roadmaps and market demands.
    • Represent the company at conferences, workshops, and industry events, showcasing our research achievements and seeking out opportunities for collaboration.

    Knowledge Sharing and Communication:

    • Ensure the dissemination of research findings through publications in high-impact journals, presentations at leading conferences, and contributions to the wider AI community.
    • Organize internal seminars and workshops to share knowledge and best practices within the team and across the company.
    • Communicate complex AI concepts and research outcomes to non-technical stakeholders, helping them understand the value and impact of our research work.

    Funding and Resource Management:

    • Secure funding for research projects through grants, partnerships, and other channels, managing budgets and resources efficiently to achieve project goals.
    • Monitor the progress of research projects, ensuring they stay on track and deliver results within the allocated timeline and budget.
    • Evaluate the potential commercial viability of research projects, working with the business development team to patent and license promising technologies.

    Qualifications:

    • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing related products., with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performing research teams.
    • Extensive experience in designing and implementing advanced AI models and algorithms.
    • Excellent theoretical training and empirical skills, including experiment design, model development and fine-tuning
    • Detailed understanding of the machine learning models (logistic regression, SVM, tree-based models, etc.) and deep learning methods (RNN, CNN, Transformer, etc.)
    • Detailed understanding of Supervised Learning, Unsupervised Learning (Reinforcement Learning, Few-shot Learning, Multi-task Learning and Meta-Learning would be a Plus)
    • Research experience in Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics or related fields.
    • Fluency in Python programming and hands-on project experience with at least two of the following deep learning frameworks: PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras,
    • Ability to develop prototypes in simulating research components in the production system.
    • Drive to see a project through from research concept to working simulation prototype
    • End-to-end experience assembling, manipulating, and analyzing data (including data extraction, cleaning, visualisation, presentation, etc.)
    • Strong publication record in reputable AI/ML/NLP conferences and journals.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with a passion for problem-solving and innovation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Hands-on experience in training deep learning algorithms.
    • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
    • Superior communication and strong presentation skills to internal and external.
    • Present analytic results using literate programming tools such as R Markdown or Jupyter Notebook.
    • Experience working with Amazon Web Services.
    • Creative and self-motivated.
    • Start-up or fast-paced working experience preferred.
