    Job overview

    We are recruiting for a Service Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

    This is an exciting and interesting opportunity to join the Lister Cancer Services management team .

    In this role you will support the Operational Management team to deliver multiple services within the Cancer Division. You will support in the improvement and development of systems and processes to enhance quality and efficiency across cancer services.

    Main duties of the job

    To be responsible for the operational management of a portfolio of service(s) within the Lister Cancer Services Care Group.

    To support the Operational Management Team in the improvement and development of systems and processes to enhance quality and efficiency across cancer services.

    To act as a Senior Service Manager and provide support and guidance to junior management staff (eg. Service Coordinators, Service Team Leaders).

    To provide effective and efficient leadership to the administration team through management of the above junior management staff.

    Qualifications/Training

    Essential criteria

    • Degree or equivalent or equivalent experience
    • Management qualification or relevant NHS experience
    • Project Management qualification or equivalent experience

    Desirable criteria

    • Clinical qualification
    • Prince 2

    Previous Experience

    Essential criteria

    • Extensive experience in a senior post.
    • Experience of working at a strategic level
    • Experience of Audit and Research
    • Evidence of extensive experience in service development and change management
    • Experience of working within a quality framework, which has mechanisms to ensure its continuity
    • Staff management
    • Project Management.
    • Experience of performance management eg. Waiting lists, DNAs, RTT Understanding of Quality & Service Improvement Strategy

    Desirable criteria

    • Experience of working across the Healthcare community

    Skills

    Essential criteria

    • Proven change and project management skills.
    • Advanced communication and effective interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent presentation skills.
    • Highly analytical and numerate with ability to present a logical argument using data and information
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Extensive experience of managing teams

    • Excellent organizational skills

    Knowledge

    Essential criteria

    • Knowledge of the NHS Cancer Waiting Time Standards
    • Knowledge of the workings of specialized services and acute hospitals
    • Knowledge of wider issues surrounding NHS healthcare

    Desirable criteria

    • Experience of NHS commissioning process
