    Commercial Sales & Business Development Manager March 2024 Location Aberdeen / Leith / Greenock Contract Full Time

    Dales Marine Services is a well-established national Ship Repair, Fabrication, and Engineering service provider for the marine, off and on-shore oil, gas and renewable industries.

    Due to the continued growth of the business, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Sales & Business Development Manager with proven experience in the maritime or similar industry.

    We are looking for a dynamic individual to build upon the existing strong customer base and identify future opportunities across the business. The successful candidate will be proactive, positive, innovative, customer-focused, responsive, and consistently deliver results.

    As part of this role, you will:

    • Demonstrate a high commitment to Health and Safety on all our sites and those of our clients.
    • Be able to travel to our primary bases across Scotland and NE England.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
    • The right candidate will have a proven track record in commercial and business development and be prepared to travel nationwide to meet clients, along with attending various industry or sector events in line with their BD role.
    • Have a commercial and financial understanding to ensure risk/reward/price are understood and clearly articulated.
    • Exhibit characteristics of high performance, goal-oriented, and creative problem-solving.
    • Ability to operate successfully in a challenging, changeable role, balancing autonomy and accountability.
    • Understand commercial methodologies, and be able to deploy these consistently.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills – active listening, ability to articulate customer's environment and requirements to Operational colleagues and senior management.
    • Work with Marketing to build the company profile and brand image.
    • Reporting directly to our Chief Executive Officer.
    • Applicants would ideally have industry knowledge with experience in oil & gas, renewables, large fabrication projects, or a general marine background.

    The successful candidate should ideally meet the following requirements: -

    • Well-developed numerical and commercial understanding.
    • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and self-manage.
    • Identify clients who can benefit from our experience and services and create opportunities for supporting them with future projects.
    • Focus on the expansion of our client base and promote the company services to new clients.
    • Support the growth of our quayside-based fabrication services across all marine markets, expand our mobilisation and demobilisation support to offshore projects, and promote our 24/7 ship repair and maintenance services.
    • Ability to create and monitor commercial budgets, identifying opportunities and risks and taking appropriate action as a result.
    • Experience in structured methodologies i.e. Prince 2, Shipley Miller Heiman, or similar, is not essential but advantageous.
    • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word at an intermediate/advanced level.
