    Overall purpose of role

    To lead and manage the Nando's Central learning pathway, developing content to meet learner and business needs and build and maintain pathways that support all roles in Operations to have the knowledge, skills and capability to perform in their roles and beyond. Work with the L&D project lead and Regional Training Managers to support any business projects or emerging operational needs where an L&D need maybe identified, ensure appropriate content is designed and embedded or updated within our pathways so our pathways remain relevant and up-to-date. Manage and co-ordinate our Nationally held training interventions, ensuring trainers, learners and external stakeholders have all the resources, information and communication they need to run successful workshops.

  • Being the gatekeeper for our Central Learning Pathways, ensuring they are up-to-date, remain relevant, support our Nando's priorities and flow well to provide our learners and leaders with clarity on their learning journey and easy access to our learning offering
  • Designing and evaluating content on our learning pathways that enable every role in Operations from Nandoca to MD to have the skills, knowledge and behaviours to be competent and confident in their roles.
  • Partnering with the L&D Project Lead and Regional Training managers, designing, evolving and embedding new or updated content into the pathways.
  • Partner with the CS specialists to support them to translate their expertise and passion into training content within the pathways that pass on skills well and keep their content up-to-date
  • Lead and develop the central pathway team to inspire them in terms of by how they contribute to the ambition and plans for Nando's. Work with them to ensure we are enabling them to be the best they can be and are continuing to grow and stretch and role model our values and attitudes
  • Bringing our grow principles to life through ensuring the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources to grow people are embedded and threaded throughout the learning pathways

  • Key responsibilities

  • Ensure our Central Learning Pathways meet the needs of our learners, leaders and business priorities, keeping them up-to-date, relevant and provide our learners and leaders with clarity on their learning journey and easy access to our learning offering
  • Collaborate with content designers, Pathway L&D Specialist and subject-matter experts to redesign and develop course content, instructional materials and all other related material
  • Collaborate with L&D Project lead to design and integrate any training requirements into the pathway and interventions from business priorities or changes
  • Manages the central pathways team providing the required level of support growing them to be the best they can be.
  • Evaluate our learning pathways, programmes and content, modifying where necessary, in order to adapt to changes in the work environment
  • Evaluate the relevance of the training content for the achievement of performance objectives
  • Ensure alignment with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure consistency
  • Consolidate training needs identified to inform an annual Learning and Development pathway content plan
  • Develop training calendars for centrally held programmes aligned to business needs and objectives across the business and support the Regional Training Managers to align training plans
  • Regularly examine training objectives within the pathways to maintain alignment with business priorities and plan, revising as necessary
  • Support the development of leadership development content alongside the senior L&D Specialist to ensure that Nando's has a competent and sufficient pool of potential future leaders
  • Create and distribute an annual training calendar
  • Manage our inventory of resources and training materials
  • Create, revise and distribute resources and training materials when required to support training delivery
  • Develop and evaluate training material to ensure quality, content accuracy and the relevant and appropriate learning experience for targeted audiences
  • Manage the maintenance and relevance of course materials to ensure applicability to current practises and revisions
  • Identify, select and manage any external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards
  • Take responsibility for compliance to any relevant statutory requirements and accreditation criteria for pathway interventions
  • Compile monthly reports for submission to management and relevant stakeholders
  • Collate and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training undertaken for reporting
  • Monitor and review execution of reporting
  • Manage and monitor the Central pathways budget
  • Administer all training-related invoicing
  • Key skills and attitudes

  • 8 years + experience in Learning & Development / Training roles
  • 3 years + people management experience of skilled professionals
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of L&D and the role it plays within an organisation
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of L&D, learning solutions, adult learning theories etc
  • Operationally minded and focused with the ability to understand and make solutions fit for a busy restaurant environment
  • Experience at designing engaging multi channel learning, able to create effective training interventions using multi channels for our diverse workforce and choose the most appropriate method for their interventions and audience
  • Experience in roles working alongside numerous stakeholders and SMEs
  • Able to quickly develop strong relationships, credibility and trust with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of work completed. Maintains high quality standards in the output they produce and encourages others to meet similar standards. Consistently evaluates work to achieve excellent results.
