Description
Project/ Programme Manager (Defence)- Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, London- Real Estate
Every day we help our global clients deliver ambitious and highly technical projects in over 130 countries worldwide. If you're looking to take your career to the next level, there's room for you to grow at Turner & Townsend.
At Turner & Townsend we're passionate about making the difference. That means delivering better outcomes for our clients, helping our people to realize their potential, and doing our part to create a prosperous society.
Our team is dynamic, innovative, and client-focused, supported by an inclusive and fun company culture. Our clients value our proactive approach, depth of expertise, integrity and the quality we deliver. As a result, our people get to enjoy working on some of the most exciting projects in the world.
We are recruiting for a variety of skills and specialisms owing to an increase in work across our National Security accounts. A successful candidate must have, or be eligible to obtain UK security clearance (SC).
Managing implementations in the digital sector combines established tools and techniques with the unique challenges of technology. Whilst the introduction of some Agile practices may even remove the word 'project' from the language being used, the principle of controlling time, cost, and quality will always remain. We recognise that projects differ from programmes, yet many of the skills required are often transferrable between the two.
T&T are looking for people with the flexibility to adapt between traditional methodologies and those that have and are becoming commonplace. Who can work through the whole lifecycle, or merely jump into one part of it to help our clients achieve both the outputs and the outcomes that they are looking for.
You may have the following skills, but not limited to, Project Management, Project Controls, Risk Management, Information Assurance, Business Change, Communication & engagement, Business Analysis, Delivery Management, and Product Owner/life cycle management.
Key Responsibilities
Individual
Deliver project and programme management services across our commissions, including:
Full or part lifecycle delivery management using waterfall and Agile methodologies (including any version or combination of the two). This may be leading Turner & Townsend and client teams or working individually within a client's organisation.
Performing specialist roles where needed within Agile teams, such as Scrum Master, Product Owner or Agile Coach
Providing independent assurance of projects or programmes, applying robust thinking to show how well or otherwise they are performing from a delivery perspective.
Recovery of poorly performing implementations
Provide expert project and programme delivery advice where needed into complimentary services, such as procurement management.
Ability to work alone or in high performance Teams
Build client relationships and reinforce credibility as a subject matter expert (SME) to identify opportunities where Turner & Townsend can assist.
Demonstrate knowledge of industry standard methodologies and how they affect our service lines, deliverables, and clients
Maintain awareness of key industry trends; interpret and report to the wider team
Input into and, if applicable, lead business generation activity (bid qualifications and proposals)
Team
Work with people within our organisation (and beyond, where applicable) to define and develop a market approach around our core digital project and programme management capabilities including:
Agile and waterfall expertise
Independent delivery assurance and recovery
Expert delivery input into procurement
Assist with the integration of Digital Project Management into all other appropriate services, teams, and commissions across Turner & Townsend's clients
Potential to represent the company at external events
Proactively engage with your line management team (and beyond) to share ideas, provide support, and where applicable mentor and develop others.
Assist as appropriate in the recruitment and retention of a Digital Project Management team
We operate a behavioural framework that sets out what we expect from every Turner & Townsend employee – simple statements, with different detail at each role level, that reflect our core values. To us they are more than just words on a page and are principles that we try to embed in our day-to-day activity. They are:
Make change happen
Do better every day
Collaborate to delivery our best work
Influence to build a better world
Always learning
Treat each other with care and respect
The opportunities will be based across our National Security accounts. Therefore, a successful candidate must already have formal vetting through UKSV. Your clearance status will be verified prior to interview.
Our Digital Careers Pathway at Turner & Townsend is based upon a combination of both the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Capability Framework, and the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA).
