    About the role

    As we look to the next frontier of learning and development for directors, we are seeking a talented Content Developer to join our dynamic team to make better directors for a better world.

    Key responsibilities

  • Working with fellow Content Developers to design, develop, produce, and review synchronous and asynchronous professional development course content for face-to-face and virtual learning on the IoD's Develop product offering.
  • Collaborating with the professional development operations team, course leaders, and subject matter experts to understand learning objectives and delegate needs.
  • Ensure reliable data collection and analysis of course feedback, evaluations, and observations to identify areas for improvement to feed into the further design and build of the Develop product offering.
  • Supporting the build and implementation of the learning management system and other digital learning platforms
  • Communicating with clients and strategic account managers to develop a clearer understanding of client needs for in-company professional development courses.
  • Ensuring strong working relationships between the Content team and other IoD teams to maintain a clear understanding of current and upcoming professional development courses and other products.
  • Working with the Content team and course leaders to develop contextualised course outlines, materials, and learning outcomes to support in-company client proposals and deliveries.
  • Working with a range of external suppliers to provide content material development, such as text design, graphics, photos, audio/visual assets, copyright clearance, eBook conversion and other editorial services.
  • Supporting and leading on continuous, regular course content reviews to reflect timely and relevant changes in industry standards, organisational priorities, and learner feedback.
  • Staying up to date with advancements and the latest learning and development methodologies and incorporate innovative approaches into content development.
  • Ensuring application of IoD house style, branding, and tone of voice guidance.
  • Contributing to the review of all administrative processes for efficiencies and improvements.
  • Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be allocated.

  • PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Essential

    Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level. Preferable in areas of instructional design, education, organisational development, or a related field.
  • Training in content writing, copyediting, typesetting and/or instructional design is desirable.
  • Knowledge

  • Knowledge of and experience in designing courses, qualifications, and/or learning programmes and best practice approaches.
  • Strong understanding of processes involved in designing and delivering successful instructor-led and digital learning projects.
  • Knowledge of digital learning platforms and digital learning content development, including use of various digital tools used for online learning delivery.
  • Good understanding of governance, how boards and organisations operate and function, and typical organisational structures is desirable.
  • Experience

  • Minimum three years' experience in a role that has included designing, producing and/or commissioning learning and development courses or training.
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, including subject matter experts, technical teams, content/editorial/marketing teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience working in a professional institute or further education body is desirable.
  • Project management experience of multi-faceted, multi-stakeholder programmes.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deliverables to competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
