    At Cambridge Healthcare Research [CHR], we partner with the world's largest biopharmaceutical companies, supporting their commercial and strategic decision-making. We employ rigorous primary and secondary research to ensure we provide our clients robust market analysis and actionable recommendations.     The company has grown significantly in the last several years and now operates with 150 people across two major sites [Cambridge and London]. Our growth has been driven by high levels of client retention and organic growth through client referrals. However, to maintain growth and extend our client network, we have identified the need to bring a strategic business development professional into our organisation to support our client teams growth strategies as well as act as a leader in the development of new opportunities and be a partner to our content marketing function.

    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven business development professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in business development, commercial growth strategies, and leadership skills. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and working closely with the commercial leadership team, the Head of Business Development and Growth will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and fostering a culture of excellence within the organisation.

    What You Will Bring To CHR

    • Experience or background in Pharma, Healthcare and Life Sciences sectors.
    • A proven track record of selling services to international companies in the Pharma, Healthcare and Life Sciences sectors.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to clearly articulate ideas and offer unique solutions to challenges, both verbally and visually.
    • Ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment – independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience in developing client proposals for projects over £1M in value.
    • Expertise in customer segmentation and analysis.
    • Experience of building consultative selling capability in client teams.
    • Effective project management skills.

    Requirements

    What You Will be Doing

    Business Development:

    • Develop a comprehensive plan for fee growth aligned with annual targets, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Business Unit Leaders (BULs) to create integrated plans supporting their teams' objectives.
    • Identify and capitalise on new growth segments or customer types, devising execution plans for engagement and conversion.
    • Work collaboratively with division heads, marketing, communications, and the CCO to set and surpass quarterly business targets.
    • Provide support for project delivery, leveraging your expertise to enhance our core offering.

    Commercial Growth:

    • Develop and embed a consultative selling approach within consulting teams, empowering them to drive business development initiatives.
    • Identify new product and service offerings through client engagement and a deep understanding of industry challenges.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance awareness, lead generation, and conversion strategies.
    • Set standards for external engagement to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

    People Development:

    • Partner with People and Commercial teams to instill a commercial mindset and behavioural change in client engagement.
    • Develop training programs to equip consultants with business development skills and the ability to identify growth opportunities.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to colleagues, setting high standards for performance and professional development.

    Leadership:

    • Participate actively in cross-functional commercial leadership groups, contributing to strategic decision-making and execution.
    • Serve as a visible leader for the growth function, driving initiatives that transcend existing organizational structures.
    • Act as a catalyst for positive change, supporting the company's ongoing growth and development.

    Compensation & Benefits

    The CHR Head Office is situated close to the Cambridge Science Park and has a second office in Shoreditch, London. With an opportunity to work at both locations within our hybrid working model, we offer a flexible and supportive atmosphere as well as a competitive salary and benefits package that includes:
