Volunteer Relationships Education Facilitator - United Kingdom - Volunteerfirst
Description
Volunteer Relationships Education Facilitator
Volunteer with Explore andhelp provide young people with the time and space to think about what it takesto create and sustain happy and healthy relationships. The Covid-19 pandemichas put relationships education in the spotlight. With many familyrelationships being put under immense pressure due to the social and economicchallenges created by lockdown, it is more important than ever to provide youngpeople with the opportunity to consider what a healthy relationship lookslike and what their future relationship ambitions might be.
Explore is a relationshipseducation charity, set up in 2000. We deliver sessions in schools for14-17 year olds that help them discuss, evaluate and explore the lifeskills needed for long-term, healthy relationships. By exploring the meaningand significance of long-term relationships, marriage and the importance offamily, we help young people adjust any pre-conceived ideas to createaspirations about their future relationships. Through our sessions, youngpeople are able to challenge media stereotypes about relationships, and anynegative experiences of their own, to gain self-awareness, confidence, understandingand hope for their own future happiness.
We apply the principle oflearning by experience, where young people lead their own open dialogue toinvestigate the relationships of ordinary couples who, in response, offerexperiences from their own relationship. Marriage is used as an examplecase study for a long term committed relationship since it is easily definable. Our young people are prepared and supported to draw conclusions from thesedialogues.
We are looking forvolunteer facilitators to run our sessions in Essex, Kent, Hampshire,Berkshire, Wiltshire and Buckinghamshire. You will be responsible forintroducing the topic, engaging the students, introducing volunteer couplesinvolved in the session, ensuring the sessions keep to time and summarisingthe session at the end. The sessions typically run with a class of up to 30students for around 1 hour.
This is an idealopportunity for Trainee Teachers or Youth Workers, and will provide classroomexperience to enhance your CV.
